Summary:

  • The Creative Audio Converter will convert your MP3 tracks to Windows Media Audio. The steps below are only suitable for Creative Audio Converter.
  • Music files that are protected with DRM (Digital Rights Management) can not be converted. In addition, converting from one file format to another can affect the sound quality. It is recommended that you encode your music in the desired format from the original source.

To convert from MP3 to WMA with Creative Audio Converter (part of Creative MediaSource or Creative Media Toolbox), follow the procedures below.

  1. Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource.

  2. Transfer the music files to be converted to your PC if these files are stored in a portable device.

  3. Go to Creative MediaSource. If you are not already in Creative MediaSource Organizer view, click the Player/Organizer View button.

  4. Locate the tracks that you want to convert, right click on the track, and select the Convert File Format option.

  6. Click the Set Destination Format button to select the target file conversion format. A dialog box appears.

  7. Click the Format box to select the target format, for example, Wave, WMA, or MP3.

  8. Note: If the Creative MediaSource in your PC is of v.3.30.06 or earlier, it will report an error " failed: Format conversion is not supported" when you try to convert a WMA file to MP3 file directly. Download the latest Creative MediaSource (see above).

To check its version, open Creative MediaSource Organizer/Player, click on Help, and then click on About Creative MediaSource.

  9. Under the Format Options, adjust settings if necessary, and then click OK button.

  10. To change the destination of the converted files, click the Browse button, and locate and select the destination folder.
If you want to automatically add the converted files into PC Music Library, click the check box below the destination box.

  11. Click the Convert Now button.

  12. Repeat the process to convert other files.
